Historic Chatsworth Lodge

Historic Chatsworth Lodge, at 127 Johnstone Street Castlemaine has become available. Built in 1863 this delightful stone and brick home belonged to James Redfearn, a native of Derbyshire England. Redfearn came to Australia in 1856 and settled in Castlemaine. He was a member of the borough council for seven years, making a significant contribution to the local community.

This solid stone ‘lodge’, with loads of historic character lies on a large parcel of land. The existing home, which has been carefully restored, could easily have an extension added at the rear to cater for a family and gain full benefit of the available land.

The land, with adjoining historic buildings and established trees is another feature of this property. The rear fence lines house lovely established trees and the old disused railway line at the rear provides a stunning outlook.
